YYI: Yeast InfectionYeast infections occur when the fungus ‘Candida albicans’ overpopulates beyond its normal healthy limit. Vaginal yeast infections are incredibly common and occur in approximately 75% of women. The overgrowth of the yeast causes vaginal irritation, and unusual discharge. Most effective treatments can be bought over the counter and are painless methods of returning to normal, though should you exhibit signs of a yeast infection, check first with your doctor before assuming a diagnosis that may not be correct (many STIs, sexually transmitted infections, share symptoms with yeast infections).[http://womenshealth.gov/publications/our-publications/fact-sheet/vaginal-yeast-infections.cfm#a , http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/candidiasis-yeast-infection ]
